Taxi Route Finder

Type where you are starting and where you are going. The finder searches 1,121 validated directional journeys across 560 places in Cape Town, and returns the page that owns that journey.

The finder does not ask for your location and does not use it. There is no map lookup, no cookie and no account: you type two place names and the search runs on the server. That keeps it working on a slow connection and on a phone with no data to spare.

Where to Board

The finder can tell you that a route exists and how far it runs. It cannot yet tell you which rank to stand at. Departure and arrival points are being verified rank by rank, and a route page names one only once it has been confirmed against a source and dated.

Until then, the honest answer is the one the page gives: the boarding point is still to be confirmed. Ask at the rank you normally use, or ask a driver running the corridor. A wrong rank costs a commuter a fare and an hour, which is why ZAVZIQ will not guess at one.

Route Results

Run a search above and the result appears here. There are four possible answers: the journey exists and you get its page, the place is ambiguous and you are asked which one you meant, the place is not in the data, or the journey is not held in that direction. The finder never returns a near miss dressed up as a match.

Fare Guidance

No fare on ZAVZIQ is an estimate. A route page shows a fare only when one has been recorded with the source it came from and the date it was checked, and every route currently shows it as unavailable.

Fares are set by the associations running a route and change on their own schedule. A number published without a date is one nobody can trust six months later, so ZAVZIQ treats the date as part of the fact. Until a fare is verified, ask at the rank.

Transfers and Multi-Leg Trips

The finder matches a single direct journey. It does not chain two routes together to build a trip, because a plausible connection is not a verified one: whether you can actually change at a point, how long it takes and whether both legs run at the same time of day are all things the data does not yet say.

What it can do is show you the real alternatives. When a journey is not held, the finder lists the validated routes that do run from your starting point, and every route page lists the other published routes sharing its origin or its destination. Those are the legs a trip would actually be built from, and they are real records rather than a suggested itinerary.

Routes people search for most often. Each opens the page that owns that direction.
